Role overview
This position is for a full-time, non-management Commis 1 role within the Food and Beverage & Culinary function at a luxury hospitality property in Ummahat Island 1, Red Sea, Saudi Arabia.
What you will do
- Prepare ingredients for cooking by portioning, chopping, and storing food properly.
- Wash and peel fresh fruits and vegetables as part of daily kitchen prep.
- Measure, weigh, and combine ingredients according to the recipe and production requirements.
- Cook and assemble food items while following recipe instructions, presentation requirements, quality standards, and kitchen checklists.
- Prepare cold food items as needed.
- Operate standard kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
- Check whether food is cooked thoroughly and monitor food quality throughout preparation.
- Set up the workstation before service and clear it down after use.
- Plate and serve food in the correct portions and in suitable containers or receptacles.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, tables, utensils, knives, and equipment.
- Verify that appliance settings and food temperatures are correct and safe.
Work standards and conduct
- Comply with company policies, food safety rules, and security procedures at all times.
- Report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the manager promptly.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a neat, professional uniform and personal appearance.
- Protect confidential information and safeguard company property.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and other stakeholders.
- Build positive working relationships and contribute to team goals.
- Respond appropriately to co-worker concerns and uphold quality standards.
- Be able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods or an entire shift.
- Perform movements such as reaching, bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping as needed.
- Handle objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
- Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
Preferred background
The expected background includes a high school diploma or GED equivalent, at least 1 year of relevant work experience, no supervisory experience, and no license or certification requirement.
