Role Overview

Joining the New Zealand-based team working fully remotely, you will support a diverse client base from startups to leading companies in tech, healthcare, and emerging sectors. You will manage a broad client portfolio, offer commercial legal advice on complex matters, and oversee junior lawyers’ development. The position offers autonomy, client-facing responsibility, and opportunities to shape your legal practice within a dynamic and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary legal advisor and trusted business partner for clients, identifying opportunities to enhance their business growth.
  • Advise on a wide range of commercial legal matters including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts related to commercial and IT sectors, intellectual property, licensing, partnerships, regulatory compliance, privacy, and consumer law.
  • Collaborate with Practice Leaders to mentor, supervise, and train junior lawyers and graduates, fostering their professional and commercial development.

Candidate Profile

  • Admission to practise law in New Zealand with a minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
  • Possession or willingness to obtain a New South Wales practising certificate.
  • Proven expertise in drafting and negotiating diverse commercial agreements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build credibility with in-house legal teams and business stakeholders.
  • A business-focused approach delivering practical, solution-oriented legal advice.
  • Adaptable to different industries, clients, and legal requirements.
  • Leadership experience in managing or supervising junior legal professionals within fast-paced environments.
