About the Role
We are seeking a meticulous and analytical Commercial Finance Analyst to join our European finance team based in Munich, Germany. This role entails working closely with multifaceted datasets to deliver financial insights that empower data-informed commercial decisions. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with diverse teams across Sales, Marketing, Trade, and Strategy departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine financial analysis to support Sales, Marketing, Trade, and Strategy teams.
- Generate reports, dashboards, and financial overviews facilitating strategic commercial choices.
- Evaluate return on investment, promotional outcomes, and profitability across customers and channels.
- Assist in building business cases for new product introductions and route-to-market strategies.
- Carry out pricing computations, margin simulations, and scenario modelling to analyze impacts.
- Contribute to pricing proposals and quarterly pricing submissions preparation.
- Maintain and update pricing databases, ensuring accurate market data.
- Monitor competitor pricing trends and assess the influence of price and product mix.
- Support financial assessment of new product introduction projects and other commercial initiatives.
- Assist in overseeing trade and marketing budgets and ensuring expenditures align with planned budgets.
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting cycles involving pricing, trade investments, and marketing expenses.
- Prepare variance analyses comparing actual performance against forecasts and highlight potential risks or opportunities.
- Support inputs for net trade-off and gross margin planning processes.
- Ensure compliance with financial processes, internal controls, and governance policies.
- Provide required assistance for audit activities concerning pricing, trade incentives, and gross margin reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in Commercial Finance, Financial Planning & Analysis, or a related analytical discipline.
- Experience in Fast-Moving Consumer Goods or tobacco sectors advantageous but not mandatory.
- Advanced skills in Excel and financial modelling techniques.
- Proficiency with ERP software such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Oracle, and Business Intelligence tools like Power BI or Tableau.
- Capability to handle extensive datasets and perform detailed scenario analyses.
- Strong analytical abilities with keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Highly organized, proactive mindset with the ability to juggle multiple responsibilities in a dynamic setting.
- Fluent business level English; knowledge of German language is an asset.
