Job description

Overview

Wood is hiring a Commercial Estimator to join the Commercial team within its Consulting business. The role supports the broader commercial and proposals groups from the Perth office on a hybrid working model.

The commercial team’s purpose is to improve returns, manage risk, and create new opportunities. In this position, you will help the business deliver accurate cost structures for a wide range of consulting services while supporting commercial performance and ensuring alignment with contracting and commercial policies.

This is a strong opportunity for an estimator or cost control professional who enjoys varied work, exposure to different pricing approaches, and the chance to contribute directly to business growth.

About the business

Wood’s global consulting organisation includes more than 3,300 specialists working across decarbonisation, hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, renewables advisory, asset optimisation, and digital solutions. The team supports clients across planning, design, construction, operations, and optimisation for assets, facilities, and infrastructure in sectors such as energy, industrial, power, mining, and life sciences.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to safer ways of working by actively demonstrating safety-focused leadership.
  • Act consistently with high ethical standards and strong personal integrity.
  • Promote and apply the Financial Management Framework guidelines.
  • Follow delegated authority requirements and relevant commercial and contracting policies.
  • Help maintain a consistent estimating methodology across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas.
  • Support the proposals team by calculating personnel rates for tender pricing documents.
  • Review commercial proposal price tables before they are submitted for internal approval.
  • Prepare pricing information and related qualifications for proposals.
  • Develop annual and quarterly rate cards for the region or business area.
  • Build estimates for bespoke pricing requirements.
  • Update all cost components used in rate cards on a quarterly basis, or at another agreed interval.

Requirements

  • Experience in finance, commercial estimating, or cost control.
  • Understanding of corporate and project procedures related to cost control and commercial estimating.
  • Proven background in estimating and costing within a global organisation.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong prioritisation and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel capability.
  • Tertiary qualification or degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian citizens or permanent residents and must not require employer sponsorship to work legally in Australia.

Benefits

  • Interesting and meaningful projects across renewables and emerging energy markets.
  • Flexible work options, including hybrid and remote arrangements where suitable.
  • Strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, supported by employee networks.
  • Competitive pay with regular salary reviews.
  • Flexible benefits, including family, cultural, and purchased leave options.
  • Personalised professional development plans.
  • Access to a global network of specialists and industry leaders.
  • Financial wellbeing support, including salary continuance insurance, salary packaging through Smart Salary, retailer discounts via RAW Benefits, and discounted hotel access.
  • Perth CBD office location with a free 24/7 on-site gym, end-of-trip facilities, coffee machines, and collaborative workspaces.
