Role Summary

The Commercial Education Manager - MEA will lead the development and delivery of a regional commercial capability strategy designed to create a high-performing, customer-focused organization. The role is responsible for ensuring that sales, marketing, distributor, and broader commercial teams have the knowledge, capabilities, and behaviors needed to meet business goals and create strong customer value.

This position works closely with Commercial Leadership, Marketing, Professional Education, Human Resources, Medical Affairs, and Global Learning teams to build and run training initiatives that improve onboarding, strengthen selling skills, expand product knowledge, and support consistent commercial execution across the Middle East and Africa.

Key Responsibilities

The role covers strategy creation, training design, onboarding, capability development, launch readiness, coaching support, and measurement of learning impact. It also involves working across functions and countries to align development efforts with business priorities.

Commercial Capability Strategy

  • Build and implement a regional strategy for commercial education and capability growth that supports business priorities.
  • Assess skills and capability gaps across sales, marketing, distributor, and leadership groups.
  • Develop annual learning plans that back growth initiatives, product introductions, market expansion, and organizational change.
  • Create competency models and learning journeys for commercial functions.

Sales Excellence and Commercial Training

  • Develop and roll out training focused on consultative and value-based selling, customer engagement, account management, territory planning, negotiation, influencing, clinical and product knowledge, competitive positioning, distributor development, leadership, and coaching.
  • Implement recognized sales methodologies and commercial excellence practices across the organization.
  • Support field coaching efforts that improve selling performance and customer interactions.

Onboarding and Employee Development

  • Run onboarding programs for new commercial hires.
  • Build structured development paths for sales representatives, sales managers, marketers, and commercial leaders.
  • Create certification programs that confirm readiness and competence.
  • Contribute to succession planning through targeted development initiatives.

Learning Design and Delivery

  • Design engaging learning experiences using classroom, virtual, digital, and experiential methods.
  • Facilitate regional workshops, leadership programs, sales meetings, and capability-building events.
  • Use modern learning technologies and digital platforms to improve reach and learner engagement.
  • Develop and maintain strong learning materials and educational content.

Product and Launch Readiness

  • Work with Marketing and Medical Affairs to ensure commercial teams are prepared for new launches and portfolio changes.
  • Create launch readiness training and certification requirements.
  • Enable field teams to clearly communicate product value and clinical benefits.

Performance Coaching and Field Effectiveness

  • Partner with sales leaders to strengthen a coaching culture.
  • Carry out field observations and training needs assessments.
  • Help managers improve coaching capabilities and performance improvement planning.
  • Use customer feedback and performance data to identify development opportunities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Align learning priorities with regional and country leadership teams.
  • Support talent development initiatives in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Localize and deploy global programs with Global Education and Commercial Excellence teams.
  • Coordinate with Compliance, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs to ensure training content follows applicable standards.

Measurement and Continuous Improvement

  • Set up learning metrics and capability dashboards.
  • Track effectiveness through assessments, certifications, field observations, and business performance indicators.
  • Measure how learning initiatives affect commercial results.
  • Improve programs continuously based on participant feedback and business needs.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
  • An advanced degree is an advantage, especially an MBA or a qualification in Business, Marketing, Organizational Development, Learning & Development, or a related field.
  • At least 8 to 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, commercial excellence, learning and development, or commercial education within healthcare, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, or life sciences.
  • Proven ability to build and deliver commercial capability programs.
  • Experience supporting multi-country organizations and diverse commercial teams.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare commercial settings and customer engagement models.
  • Prior exposure to field sales or sales leadership is highly desirable.
