Commercial / Contracts Manager - Roads & Bridges

Overview

The Contracts Manager will oversee all aspects of contract administration, ensuring strict adherence to contractual obligations, managing claims, leading change management, and maintaining commercial governance throughout project lifecycles. This role safeguards the project’s commercial and contractual interests by effectively administering contracts with clients, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead management and administration of client-related contracts ensuring compliance with all legal and procedural requirements.
• Interpret contract language and guide project teams on contractual matters.
• Develop and enforce contract administration protocols and governance frameworks.
• Monitor and evaluate contractor, consultant, and supplier contract adherence and performance.
• Maintain organized records including contract registers and compliance logs.
• Examine contractual claims, support dispute resolution, and develop strategies to protect project interests.
• Manage project change control, analyze variation requests, and assess the impact of design and scope alterations.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks, maintaining risk registers.
• Assist in procurement activities including tender preparation, bid evaluations, and contract negotiations.
• Oversee payment applications and ensure conformity with contractual payment terms.
• Lead stakeholder engagement, contractual meetings, and foster strong client relations.
• Specialize in administering FIDIC contracts, ensuring compliance with notices and contractual duties.
• Provide leadership, mentoring contract and commercial teams to enhance contract management practices.
• Guarantee that contractual HSE, quality, and environmental requirements are properly enforced.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Commercial Management, or related fields is mandatory.
• A Master's degree in Construction Law, Commercial Management, MBA, or Project Management is highly preferred.
• Professional accreditation such as MRICS or MCIArb is advantageous.
• Minimum 15 years in contract administration and commercial management with at least 8 years in a managerial contract role.
• Extensive experience with FIDIC contracts on projects exceeding USD 250 million.
• Background with consultants, PMC, client-side, or leading contractors, preferably within Saudi Arabia and the GCC region.
