Job description
Role Overview
The College Librarian leads the College library to support academic and research goals through visionary leadership, strategic planning, adoption of new technologies, prudent financial oversight, and engagement with the college community. This position entails overall responsibility for meeting the information, library, and research needs within the institution.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the professional and administrative leader of the College library.
- Develop, implement, and maintain efficient policies, procedures, and systems to ensure smooth library operations.
- Design and oversee the execution of the library's strategic plan in alignment with institutional priorities.
- Direct and coordinate all library components including personnel management, service delivery, collections management, and external relations.
- Organize, supervise, and evaluate the activities and performance of library staff.
- Act as the library's representative in interactions with the College administration and committees.
- Foster collaborations with local and international academic libraries and organizations to stay current with library trends and incorporate best practices.
Candidate Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a postgraduate degree specializing in library and information sciences or related fields.
- Have a minimum of four years' experience serving as a Deputy Librarian or in a similar senior library role within a college of education or comparable institution.
- Demonstrate strong analytical, critical thinking, information management, and research skills.
- Be capable of completing at least one full four-year term before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
