Role Summary

This part-time remote role is for a college admissions counselor who will guide students and families through every stage of the admissions journey, from early profile development to final application submission. The counselor will provide one-on-one mentorship, help students stay organized and on track, and keep parents informed and engaged throughout the process.

Key Responsibilities

• Support students with building a strong admissions profile, including extracurricular planning and application strategy.
• Hold regular check-ins with students to offer structured guidance throughout the admissions timeline.
• Plan and lead meetings with parents and families so they remain informed and aligned with the student’s progress.
• Review and refine personal statements and supplemental essays while preserving the student’s authentic voice.
• Help students develop meaningful passion projects that reflect their interests and strengthen their applications.
• Advise on school selection, including the balance of reach, target, and safety options.
• Maintain clear communication with both students and parents to ensure ongoing support and engagement.
• Coordinate with mentors and internal team members, including application specialists, to support the student holistically.

Success Measures

• Students receive thoughtful guidance that leads to strong applications and well-developed profiles.
• Meetings with students and families happen consistently, helping maintain momentum.
• Feedback from students and families remains strong, including session feedback and Net Promoter Score results.
• Service expectations are followed closely, with prompt responses and a polished counseling experience.

Required Background and Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree from a top 20 US university is required, with added consideration for candidates who have worked in undergraduate admissions consulting.
• Hands-on experience with admissions to top US universities.
• Genuine interest in mentoring young adults and an appreciation for international perspectives.
• Strong planning and organization skills; experience in project management, event coordination, or product management is advantageous.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for giving clear and structured feedback on essays and applications.
• Ability to manage relationships with students, parents, and internal teams in a coordinated way.
• Comfort working independently under pressure in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Prior experience in education, coaching, tutoring, or admissions consulting is preferred.

Working Style and Schedule

This is a fully remote role that can be done from anywhere. The schedule is flexible, with work primarily expected in the afternoons and evenings to match student availability.

Growth and Compensation Notes
