Job description

About Scavenge

Scavenge is a Nigeria-focused peer-to-peer marketplace that enables people to buy, sell, and donate items inside local communities. The company aims to improve trust, access, and liquidity in neighborhood commerce, beginning in Nigeria with plans to expand into other emerging markets over time.

Role Overview

Scavenge is looking for a Co-Founder focused on Capital Formation & Strategy to own fundraising and financial strategy from the ground up. This founding leadership position is responsible for securing the funding needed for scale while also helping guide the company’s long-term direction. You will partner directly with the founder as a core decision-maker in the business.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will lead capital-raising efforts with angels, venture capital firms, family offices, grant providers, and strategic investors. You will also create investor-facing materials such as pitch decks, financial models, and fundraising stories, and help plan and close pre-seed and seed funding rounds. Beyond fundraising, you will nurture relationships with investors and capital partners, set long-range financial and capital strategy, contribute to major strategic decisions, and establish financial systems and processes that can support growth at scale.

Requirements / Ideal Candidate

Scavenge is open to applicants from anywhere in the world. The strongest profiles usually come from backgrounds such as venture capital or angel investing, investment banking or private equity, startup founding or fundraising, corporate finance or FP&A in fast-growing businesses, or management consulting with substantial financial exposure.

Applicants should be able to demonstrate that they have successfully raised capital or meaningfully supported fundraising efforts. They should also bring solid financial modeling skills, a strong understanding of startup unit economics, excellent communication abilities, and confidence in investor-facing discussions. Comfort working in early-stage, uncertain environments is important. A network in the startup and investment ecosystem is an advantage, though it is not mandatory.

What We Offer

This is an equity-based co-founder opportunity with long-term ownership in the company. The role offers meaningful influence over strategy and key decisions, high autonomy in shaping fundraising and capital strategy, and the chance to help build a potentially category-defining marketplace originating from Nigeria. It also provides an early-stage entry point into a venture-scale business.

Additional Information

This position is remote-friendly and welcomes global applicants. A long-term commitment is expected.

How to Apply

Interested candidates should submit a short introduction, relevant experience in fundraising, finance, or capital markets, and any notable experience with deals, investments, or startups if applicable.
