Job Overview
The role involves driving insurance sales by leveraging relationships with assigned channel partners within a designated area, particularly focusing on HDFC Bank branches. The Cluster Manager is expected to influence bank relationship personnel to encourage their customers to invest in insurance products from Aditya Birla Capital’s Birla Sun Life Insurance portfolio. Along with achieving targets, the manager must ensure consistent quarterly business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of approximately 10-11 members covering multiple branches to achieve assigned Business Unit targets.
- Manage an individual annualized premium sales target ranging between 5 to 10 crore INR.
- Maintain zero customer complaints by ensuring high service standards.
- Ensure premium persistency of 80% over a 13-month rolling period.
- Develop strong ties with channel partners, mainly branch heads of the bank, facilitating smooth communication of organizational incentives and training.
- Innovate and implement branch-level activities to boost customer penetration and sales effectiveness.
- Effectively manage the sales process including calls, policy issuance, and complaint resolution to avoid process delays or obstacles.
- Coordinate with internal teams such as HR, issuance, and client service to streamline policy issuance and team training activities.
- Identify and recommend training needs for internal teams and channel partners.
- Analyze business patterns regularly and provide insights to senior management.
- Focus on achieving a product mix of 50% traditional policies, 40% unit-linked insurance plans (ULIP), and 10% term insurance.
- Implement a First Level Sales (FLS) review mechanism targeting 40% activation with specified case minimums.
- Ensure timely renewals by communicating effectively with customers to maintain persistency levels.

- Manage market volatility given the emphasis on unit-linked insurance products subject to market fluctuations.
- Align business priorities with HDFC Branch Banking open architecture model which may have competing objectives.
- Balance organizational processes with the expectations and requirements of channel partners.
