Role overview
The Cluster Chief Accountant reports to the Assistant Director of Finance and plays a central role in managing hotel accounting and tax compliance. This position is accountable for keeping the general and sub-ledgers accurate, coordinating the monthly and annual financial reporting cycle, and overseeing key accounting team members.
The role works closely with the broader accounting team to ensure records are complete, reconciliations are current, and reporting is delivered on time. It also includes direct supervision of the A/P Supervisor, A/R Supervisor, and Income Auditor.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger and sub-ledger structure, including accounts payable and accounts receivable records, along with journal and journal voucher postings.
- Prepare recurring monthly entries for standard expenses, prepaid items, and accrued costs.
- Check payroll computations completed by the Paymaster and record labor costs in the accounting system.
- Work out taxes, benefits, and other payroll-related allocations, then prepare the related journal entries.
- Reconcile general ledger and sub-ledger balances each month, ensuring all balances agree and supporting details are verified.
- Handle daily bank reconciliations.
- Finalize journals, journal vouchers, and the trial balance, then submit them to the Director Finance Business Partner and Assistant Director of Finance for review before preparing monthly financial statements.
- Send closing summaries to the Assistant Director of Finance.
- Support other accounting areas with process guidance and recommend improvements to accounting workflows.
- Assist with physical verification of fixed assets and inventory counts.
- Support the Assistant Director of Finance in calculating and paying business taxes and payroll taxes.
- Help complete balance sheet reconciliations and ensure all backup documents are properly organized and filed.
- Prepare documentation required by internal and external auditors for hotel accounting audits.
Leadership and operational duties
- Supervise, train, and administer the assigned team members effectively.
- Step into the Assistant Director of Finance role during absences when needed.
- Follow company policies and procedures at all times.
- Operate within approved budget limits.
- Take on additional reasonable tasks as business needs change.
- Help create and update departmental policies and manuals and ensure they are applied consistently across the group.
- Take an active role in recruitment and talent development to support current and future departmental needs.
- Represent the brand professionally and protect brand identity and consistency.
- Demonstrate the organization’s culture, vision, mission, and core values in daily work.

Required background
The ideal candidate should have strong hotel accounting knowledge, especially in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and a uniform accounting system. A university degree in accounting is required, and accounting credentials such as CPA or SOCPA are preferred. At least 5 years of experience in a similar position is expected.
Skills and competencies
