About the Role

The Club Controller leads the finance function for The Club at Kukui'ula and the Kukui'ula Community Association (KCA). This is a department-head position focused on maintaining strong financial controls, accurate reporting, budget oversight, compliance, insurance administration, licensing, and member account management. The role works closely with senior leaders and department managers to support decisions through timely analysis, reliable reporting, and continuous improvement in processes.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee annual budgeting for both the Club and KCA and monitor performance against plan.
  • Run the monthly close process and ensure financial statements are prepared on schedule and reviewed with leadership.
  • Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes across the department.
  • Manage member accounts, investigate discrepancies, and coordinate collection actions for overdue balances.
  • Handle licensing, permits, and regulatory obligations, including liquor license requirements.
  • Coordinate annual tax return preparation and support audit-related activities.
  • Administer insurance coverage, renewals, certificates of insurance, and risk-management reviews.
  • Work with department heads to maintain fiscal accountability and support operational needs.
  • Oversee retail inventory accounting and physical inventory counts.
  • Administer lease agreements for the Club and KCA.
  • Serve as co-administrator for Northstar and Plate IQ.
  • Direct, coach, and support the Accounting Associate while providing financial guidance to other managers.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related discipline; equivalent industry training and experience may also be considered.
  • At least 4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in private clubs, hospitality, hotels, resorts, or similar settings.
  • Proven background in preparing and managing budgets.
  • Experience analyzing financial statements and overall business performance.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills, along with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle several priorities at once and work under tight deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel skills, plus working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong discretion when handling sensitive financial information.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and turn it into practical recommendations for leadership.
  • Comfort working both independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Commitment to company policies and regulatory compliance.
  • Willingness to supervise staff, mentor team members, and manage workflow.
  • Ability to participate occasionally in physical inventory checks and operational reviews.

Preferred Experience

  • Background in hospitality, private clubs, resorts, HOAs, real estate, or property management accounting.
  • Experience with membership billing and accounts receivable management.
  • Knowledge of HOA accounting practices.
  • Exposure to corporate insurance programs, audits, and tax filings.
  • Familiarity with lease administration, contract compliance, and POS systems.
  • Experience using Northstar and Plate IQ.
