Role overview

The Club Lead operates with general oversight and is responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities needed to run Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) facilities.

Core duties

  • Support MWR users by providing exercise instruction, fitness testing, workout guidance, and supervision, including leading group exercise sessions.
  • Confirm that the minimum legal age for serving alcoholic beverages at the installation is met.
  • Mix drinks according to approved recipes and service standards.
  • Apply alcohol safety practices to help prevent over-intoxication.
  • Use proper bar terminology and serve drinks responsibly.
  • Handle intoxicated guests in line with the installation’s guidelines.
  • Pour and serve beverages such as beer and wine.
  • Process alcohol purchases through point-of-sale software and the cash register.
  • Explain menu items and serve food from the establishment’s menu.
  • Clean and maintain bar tools, glassware, utensils, and related equipment.
  • Set up the bar at the start of a shift and close it down at the end of service.
  • Arrange liquor inventory according to the bar’s operating standards.
  • Follow sanitation rules required by law and comply with Army and Preventative Medicine requirements.
  • Adhere to all procedures, processes, and policies related to overseas bar operations.
  • Juggle multiple bar-related tasks, including inventory tracking, ordering supplies, and making sure stock is ready for special events.
  • Ensure the team delivers strong customer service.
  • Oversee the cash drawers assigned to bartenders and inspect equipment to confirm it is working properly and safely.
  • Carry out additional duties as needed.

Skills and qualifications

The role calls for a solid grasp of exercise science, health, and fitness, along with strong people skills and a customer-focused approach. CPR and first aid certification is preferred.

Experience and education

A high school diploma or an equivalent qualification is required. Candidates should bring at least two years of experience coordinating organized team sports, recreation club activities, and social event scheduling. Previous MWR or armed forces experience is preferred.

Working conditions

The assignment may involve remote and difficult living and working conditions. The role can include long shifts, exposure to weather and hazardous environments, and the need to relocate on short notice under adverse circumstances.
