Position Overview

Join Kettering Health Medical Group as a Clinical Support Specialist I, blending clinical experience with health informatics expertise to support providers and clinicians within ambulatory settings. This role involves collaborating with Epic teams, Community Connect, and stakeholders across the health system to implement and optimize electronic health records and clinical workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with healthcare and IT professionals to integrate health informatics technologies such as EHR, computerized physician order entry, and clinical decision tools effectively into clinical care.
  • Coordinate with Operational Excellence teams to manage project timelines and communicate these with practices during implementation phases alongside senior team members.
  • Analyze current clinical workflows to identify inefficiencies and technological improvements that enhance patient safety and operational efficiency.
  • Extract, interpret, and report on clinical data to inform evidence-based practices and quality improvement strategies.
  • Design and present training sessions to healthcare staff on health informatics tools and regulatory compliance, providing hands-on support during transitions to Epic systems.
  • Act as a consultative resource for clinical staff, supporting documentation, coding, billing, and troubleshooting through Kettering Health’s ticketing system.
  • Ensure adherence to healthcare regulatory requirements, data privacy, and meaningful use standards while supporting quality assurance initiatives.
  • Conduct on-site visits to physician offices, hospitals, and community health centers to provide direct support and training.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum education: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
  • Preferred experience includes working in physician practices or comparable healthcare settings, familiarity with EHR systems, and clinical terminology.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills to effectively engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Training and education abilities for healthcare professionals.
  • Between zero to two years of relevant experience in support or informatics roles.
  • Certifications: Epic Clinical Informaticist certification and Epic Signal course completion within the first year of employment are required.
