Job description

About the organisation

The Salvation Army New Zealand, Fiji, Tonga & Samoa is seeking a capable Clinical Operations Manager to provide both operational and clinical leadership across its Auckland bridge services. The role is centered in Mt Eden and supports programmes in Mt Eden, Waitākere, Manukau, and a respite service in Manurewa. The service operates regionally and delivers work under several contracts.

What the role involves

  • Lead a team of health professionals across multiple programme sites.
  • Provide day-to-day operational oversight together with clinical direction.
  • Support delivery across Mt Eden, Waitākere, Manukau Bridge programmes and the Manurewa respite service.
  • Help ensure services remain contract-compliant and outcomes are delivered within required timeframes.
  • Contribute ideas that improve contract retention, service growth, and funding expansion.

What you need to bring

  • A degree and full registration in addictions or a related discipline such as nursing, social work, counselling, or psychology.
  • At least 10 years of relevant professional experience.
  • At least 3 years leading residential and community-based alcohol and other drug services.
  • Demonstrated people leadership and a solid background in human resources matters.
  • Strong presentation and communication ability with varied audiences.
  • Confidence working in line with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and building relationships with Mana Whenua and community groups.
  • Good self-management, planning, and organisational capability.
  • Experience operating in a contract-driven environment with measurable deliverables.
  • Advanced administrative, reporting, and computer skills.
  • Experience with group facilitation and case management in the alcohol and drug sector.
  • A genuine connection to The Salvation Army’s mission and values.

Additional expectations

The successful candidate is expected to be adaptable, energetic, self-driven, and inclusive of all cultures. The role also requires alignment with the organisation’s mission of caring for people, transforming lives, and reforming society.

Working arrangements

This is a permanent full-time position. Standard hours are 40 per week, typically from 08:00 to 16:30, with on-call duties as rostered.

Pay and benefits

The salary is not fixed in the advert, but the starting package is expected to fall between NZD 113,000 and NZD 122,000, depending on management experience and the Social Worker Pay Equity framework.

  • One extra week of Salvation Army leave each year
  • Access to free professional supervision and EAP support
  • Subsidised flu vaccinations
  • TSA discount card with offers from participating retailers

Compliance notice

Because this is a children’s worker role under the Children’s Act 2014, applicants with a Schedule 2 conviction must either provide an Exemption Certificate for Core Children’s Worker roles or complete an internal assessment for other Salvation Army roles. The organisation is an equal opportunity employer and values workplace diversity.
