Job description

About Ataraxis AI

Ataraxis AI is a clinical artificial intelligence research laboratory operating at the convergence of multi-modal AI technologies and precision medicine. Our mission is to enhance predictability in disease outcomes by innovating AI methods that forecast patient responses to treatments and developing clinical tools that support physicians in choosing optimal therapies.

Our research spans discovering new methodologies to identify patterns and predict outcomes from intricate multi-modal clinical datasets. This includes work related to causality models (Ataraxis™ Tau), foundational AI models for digital pathology (Falcon and Kestrel), and survival analysis.

Our initial clinical offerings, like Ataraxis™ Breast for breast cancer, are currently utilized by numerous renowned academic and community healthcare centers, helping patients access suitable treatments.

Joining Ataraxis presents a rare opportunity to influence both the company's trajectory and the broader future of healthcare. Our experienced team includes AI trailblazers such as founding advisor Yann LeCun and esteemed oncologists from leading cancer research facilities, all committed to revolutionizing precision medicine.

Backed by over $24 million in funding from top-tier investors including Thiel Capital/Founders Fund, Obvious Ventures, and AIX Ventures, Ataraxis fosters a flat organizational structure where initiative and outstanding performance pave the path to leadership roles. Prioritization skills and a strong work ethic are crucial for success here.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and acquire diverse real-world clinical datasets, trial data, and biobank resources to assess the platform’s effectiveness in novel tumor types.
  • Assist in designing evidence-generation strategies including retrospective validations, prospective clinical studies, and biomarker correlation analyses to substantiate platform performance.
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with key opinion leaders, clinical investigators, and research collaborators to rigorously evaluate clinical hypotheses, aid study planning, and identify trial locations, collaborators, and early clinical adopters.
  • Convert the latest clinical and scientific discoveries into comprehensive internal resources such as memos, summarized evidence, draft manuscripts, abstracts, and materials for medical affairs and commercial purposes.
  • Work closely with engineering and research teams by integrating clinical and biological knowledge—including endpoints, staging, standard care nuances, and patient population criteria—into requirements for development of clinical-grade AI models.

Qualifications

  • PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant scientific or clinical field is preferred.
  • At least two years’ experience in clinical development, clinical research, medical affairs, translational research, or clinical operations within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or diagnostic sectors is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical trial design, landscape of biobank and datasets, and evidence-generation planning such as retrospective validation and biomarker studies.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively to diverse groups ranging from clinical key opinion leaders to software engineers.
  • Preferred: experience delivering scientific presentations at conferences or clinical environments.
  • A strong bias for decisive action, independent critical thinking on complex subjects, and ability to reason from first principles.
