Job description
Role Summary
Bloomin’ Crumlin is seeking a motivated Community Engagement Facilitator passionate about biodiversity and environmental issues to develop and strengthen a new Climate Action Network in Crumlin, Dublin. This temporary position involves approximately 5 hours per week from August through December 2026, with a total budget of €2,500 funded by Community Foundation Ireland.
Objectives
- During August, identify and establish communication with local community groups in Crumlin, engaging their representatives for network participation.
- In September, organize initial group meetings, facilitate discussions, and gather community insights.
- By October, collaborate with community groups to formulate a strategy to sustain the network’s activities into 2027.
- In December, coordinate a launch event to introduce the community strategy and engagement plan for the coming year.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain relationships with local businesses, community groups, and informal community networks.
- Lead conversations that reveal common interests, motivations, and challenges in community networking and climate engagement.
- Support Bloomin’ Crumlin in building enduring partnerships with community organizations for effective decision-making and climate action.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of three years’ experience in community engagement across diverse social groups.
- Strong interest and understanding of environmental and biodiversity topics.
- Excellent facilitation skills, including the ability to create trust, manage resistance, and encourage collaboration and actionable planning.
- Systems thinking skills to perceive the interconnectedness between people, places, and issues.
- Capability to engage individuals who may feel excluded or hesitant about environmental messaging.
- Creative, empathetic, with a good sense of humor, able to make climate action approachable and achievable in daily life.
- Comfortable navigating uncertainty, co-creating solutions, and developing emerging ideas.
