Role overview
This position sits within the NSW Department of Communities and Justice and supports court and registry operations across the Coffs Harbour Hub. The work is based onsite in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, with related hub locations including Forster, Taree, Port Macquarie, Kempsey, Coffs Harbour and Grafton.
The role is ongoing and full time, with a 35-hour working week. It is classified at Clerk Grade 1/2 and offers a base salary of $75,728 to $82,329, plus employer superannuation contributions and annual leave loading.
There are 2 vacancies in Coffs Harbour and 2 vacancies in Port Macquarie. A talent pool may also be established for future Hub roles.
What the role involves
The Client Services Officer delivers clerical and administrative assistance across court and registry functions. In Local Courts, the position is largely centred on supporting courtroom operations. When court is sitting, the officer must be present and may perform duties as a Court Officer and/or Court Monitor.
Key duties
- Support the efficient running of the court by working closely with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Recognise the needs of judicial officers and other courtroom stakeholders and respond promptly and appropriately.
- Provide strong clerical and administrative support to both the court and the registry.
- Enter information accurately into computer-based systems.
- Deliver a high standard of client service.
- Contribute to better work processes and implementation of improved practices.
- Work across different jurisdictions as required.
- Follow departmental policies and procedures, including those relating to harassment prevention, EEO, EAPS, the Code of Conduct, WH&S, ethical work practices, disability awareness and ATSI strategies.

The ideal candidate can communicate and liaise effectively with a varied group of stakeholders, provide clear and timely responses, and bring sound clerical, administrative and data-handling capability. Confidence in using computer systems for accurate data entry and routine administrative work is also important.
