About the Role

The NSW Department of Education seeks a Cleaning Services Lead to oversee and enhance cleaning operations across a broad rural area including schools and other government properties. This temporary full-time position extends until 30 September 2029 and is located in Batemans Bay, New South Wales. The role focuses on ensuring high standards, safety, and contract compliance for cleaning services aligned with upcoming government reforms effective January 2026.

Key Responsibilities

The Cleaning Services Lead will manage multiple sites by coordinating visits and inspections, maintaining accurate records and reports, liaising with principals, contractors, and internal teams to resolve issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate enjoys working autonomously in detail-sensitive environments, demonstrating strong organisational and analytical skills, effective communication abilities, and a sound practical knowledge of contract management, work health and safety (WHS), industrial relations, and compliance with Modern Slavery requirements. Travel to various locations, sometimes requiring overnight stays, is a component of this role.

Requirements

Applicants should possess relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in facilities management or related fields and hold a current Working with Children Check clearance. A commitment to and understanding of public education values, including knowledge of the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and partnership frameworks, is essential.

Terms and Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary at the Clerk Grade 9/10 level ranging from $133,348 to $146,945 annually, plus superannuation and annual leave loading. The workweek comprises 35 hours with flexible arrangements and additional leave entitlements. Career advancement and mobility within the Department are supported.
