About the Role

Y Schools Queensland's Junior Ipswich Campus is inviting applications for a permanent, full-time Classroom Youth Worker position. Based in Ipswich, you will play a crucial role in supporting young individuals to realize their full potential, regardless of their background or personal circumstances. Your work will have a meaningful impact by helping youths recognize their worth and grow into confident, empowered adults.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the school’s pastoral care and community development programs to meet student wellbeing and attendance goals.
  • Design and facilitate wellbeing initiatives for students.
  • Support vocational training programs provided to students.
  • Assist with additional programs, services, and campus events aimed at youth engagement.
  • Build intentional, supportive relationships with young people to understand and address their unique strengths, interests, and needs.
  • Manage and support identified students in line with school policies and procedures.

Candidate Profile

  • Possession of Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work, Community Services, or related fields.
  • Current Positive Notice Blue Card or willingness to obtain one.
  • Proven communication skills with young people and their families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to implement appropriate behaviour management strategies fostering a supportive environment.
  • Commitment to working with youth through a Strengths Approach, demonstrating empathy and non-judgmental support.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, alongside interpersonal skills.
