Job description
Role overview
In this position, you’ll be out on the road assessing damaged homes, deciding on the most suitable repair approach, and helping customers understand what happens next. The work suits someone comfortable visiting a customer’s property, discussing scopes with builders, and keeping repair timelines on track when matters are time-sensitive.
Most days begin with a scheduled route of site appointments. You’ll inspect damage, confirm the repair method based on what you observe, and complete the supporting documentation so work can progress. Some assessments are simple, while others require a more detailed hands-on review, including checking damage from accessible areas, tracing moisture paths, and looking at repairs that have not performed as expected.
Although this is primarily an on-road role, there will also be occasions where assessments are completed from a desk. You’ll be expected to maintain strong relationships with customers and repairers while representing the Youi brand through a high standard of service.
Key duties
- Review damage at the property, make an on-site decision, and record the chosen repair method so the claim can move ahead.
- Discuss scopes with builders, work through differences, and help keep repairs progressing when timeframes or repair methods are contested.
- Meet customers in person, explain the outcome clearly, and guide them through the next steps.
- Handle a daily schedule of active and new claims, balancing inspections, scope preparation, follow-ups, and claim notes.
- Use the company’s online systems every day to prepare and submit reports.
- Travel nationally when required during catastrophe events to support affected regions.
Experience and background
- Prior experience in one of the following areas is preferred: insurance assessing, loss adjusting, building, restoration, or estimating, particularly where you have scoped repairs and dealt directly with customers and builders.
- Experience in desktop home assessment or home claims management is also suitable.
What success looks like
- You can connect damage findings, reports, and policy details to make practical decisions, even when the answer is not straightforward.
- You step in when workloads grow and help move jobs forward rather than waiting for someone else to take ownership.
- You stay on top of deadlines and follow-ups so repairs continue without unnecessary delays.
- You are familiar with claims terminology and building-related processes.
- You bring strong communication and negotiation skills.
- You are comfortable using computers and online systems.
Benefits and perks
- A maintained company car, fuel card, and mobile business tools are provided to support the role.
- Additional wellbeing support includes free skin checks, flu vaccinations, wellbeing sessions, discounted gym access, and discounted Youi insurance.
- Performance incentives are paid every six months, with annual salary reviews.
- You may be able to work a 9-day fortnight with every second Friday off, along with 22 days of annual leave.
- Training is paid from day one to help you get started and grow.
About the employer
