Position Overview
The Civil Works Inspector is tasked with conducting thorough inspections, continuous monitoring, and verification of civil construction tasks focused on road and infrastructure projects. This role is pivotal in assuring that all works strictly follow approved drawings, specifications, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Carry out daily site inspections encompassing earthworks, subgrade preparation, base layers, asphalt application, and drainage installations.
- Validate that all materials utilized and workmanship performed are aligned with the project standards and industry best practices.
- Monitor compliance with approved method statements, Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and health and safety regulations.
- Document inspection findings by producing inspection reports, Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), daily logs, and ensure timely follow-up on necessary corrective measures.
- Engage collaboratively with site engineers, contractors, and consultants to address and resolve any technical challenges.
- Inspect incoming materials to guarantee conformity with approved specifications prior to utilization.
Required Qualifications and Expertise
- A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university plus a minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience; alternatively, a minimum of 12 years of direct experience as a civil works inspector.
- In-depth understanding of road construction processes including asphalt works, pavement layering, earthworks operations, and drainage system installation.
- Proven familiarity with Inspection Test Plans, quality assurance protocols, and construction standard procedures.
- Excellent skills in reporting, effective communication, and vigilant site monitoring.
