About the Role
Join WSP as a Civil Materials Laboratory Cadet in our Gisborne Laboratory team, where you'll contribute to critical infrastructure projects by testing engineering materials such as aggregates, soils, concrete, and bitumen. This entry-level position offers comprehensive training, making it ideal for those interested in developing a career as a Civil Materials Laboratory Technician. The role involves hands-on work in both laboratory and field settings, requiring physical fitness and data entry skills, with occasional overtime.
Responsibilities
- Support testing activities of civil engineering materials to ensure project quality and safety.
- Contribute to various projects across laboratory and field environments.
- Follow digital instructions and maintain accurate data entry.
- Work collaboratively within a team and travel as needed.
- Complete overtime hours when requested.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience in labor-intensive or trades roles such as construction, roading, warehousing, or farming is advantageous.
- Physically fit and capable of safely handling heavy materials and equipment.
- Basic computer proficiency and confidence navigating digital instructions.
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Willing to travel and work overtime as required.
- Possess a full, clean New Zealand driver's licence.
- Must have full, unrestricted working rights in New Zealand; work visa sponsorship is not available.
