Role overview
ALSUWEIDI Engineering Consultants is looking for a Civil Inspector to support its supervision team on a project in Abu Dhabi. This position calls for solid technical knowledge, close attention to detail, and the ability to help ensure that site activities stay aligned with quality standards, safety expectations, and project timelines. Immediate availability is preferred.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee, track, and inspect contractor activities on site in line with approved shop drawings, materials, method statements, and inspection test plans.
- Verify that completed works and workmanship meet the required quality standards.
- Keep ongoing records of site progress to support assessment of the contractor’s interim payment submissions.
- Document and escalate any site matters that may lead to cost or schedule claims.
- Work with the contractor’s team in a professional, balanced, and firm manner.
- Follow approved HSE procedures on site and ensure the contractor’s team also complies with them.
- Review and confirm the contractor’s daily reports and maintain proper records.
- Observe and supervise material sampling and testing, and inspect and log all materials delivered to site.
- Coordinate with the Resident Engineer to resolve day-to-day site issues.
- Examine and sign off day work records submitted by the contractor.
- Review and provide comments on weekly and monthly progress reports prepared by the contractor.
- Attend technical and progress meetings on site when directed or requested by the Resident Engineer.
- Apply company quality standards and ensure work is carried out in accordance with the company quality system.
- Perform all inspections needed during snagging, de-snagging, and project handover, while maintaining records to support the issuance of the Taking Over Certificate.
- Inspect and record rectification work completed by the contractor during the defects liability period.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- At least 8 years of overall experience.
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in the UAE.
- At least 3 years of experience working in an engineering consultancy environment.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints.
- Sharp ability to identify construction defects and errors.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Capability to maintain accurate and organized project documentation.
