Job Overview

The Sports Division is seeking a skilled Civil CAD Drafter with experience in civil site drawings to join the sports architecture team. The role involves close collaboration with design team members, offering opportunities to contribute design ideas and participate actively in projects from sports planning to construction documentation and permitting for K–12 and collegiate sports facilities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the creation of initial design concepts using tools such as Google Earth, AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
  • Work closely with team members to develop effective design solutions through clear communication and collaboration.
  • Produce 3D visualizations and planning-level design documentation leveraging AutoCAD capabilities.
  • Create maps, diagrams, and profiles that show elevations, topography, subsurface features, and structures from cross-sections and surveys.
  • Draft plan and profile views for infrastructure improvements including streets, storm drains, sewers, water lines, and other underground utilities using dynamic labeling techniques.
  • Generate plan views for detailed and preliminary grading schemes.
  • Design and adjust construction details and cross sections as necessary.
  • Review designs to ensure alignment with standards for consistency, safety, operational functionality, and maintenance.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Associate's degree or equivalent vocational training in Design and Drafting Technology.
  • At least 3 years of experience in civil design or drafting roles.
  • Basic understanding of civil engineering principles such as grading plans, cut and fill calculations, site layouts, and stormwater management.
  • Familiarity with design methods, tools, and standards used in generating precise technical drawings and plans.
  • Experience in detailed design development, cross-reference driven construction documentation, and construction administration.
  • Proficiency using AutoDesk Civil 3D and/or Infrastructure Suite.
  • Preferred experience with additional software including Photoshop, InDesign, SketchUp, Revit, Lumion, and GIS technologies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Interest or background in sports design is advantageous.
