Childfriendly Housekeeper for Private Family Household

About the Role

We are a welcoming family seeking a reliable and experienced housekeeper to join our private household located in Central St Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands. This full-time position involves maintaining impeccable standards of cleanliness and household management while supporting a busy family environment. The household comprises two working adults in their 40s/50s, two school-aged girls (4 and 7 years old), and a small friendly dog. Accommodation may be available for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning and upkeep throughout the home including seasonal deep cleaning.
• Manage laundry duties such as washing, ironing, and organizing wardrobes.
• Prepare beds daily, with weekly linen and towel changes to maintain freshness.
• Ensure the kitchen is clean and orderly, prepare meals for the family and children, and occasionally shop locally for groceries or errands.
• Maintain organized cupboards as well as the fridge and freezer.
• Carry out exterior tasks including cleaning the terrace, ground floor windows, and car and boat washing.
• Provide occasional support with pet care such as feeding, and childcare supervision when required.
• Assist with hosting duties during dinner parties and occasional babysitting.
• Potentially travel with the family to properties in London, Sweden, and Greece.

Working Hours and Environment

The role is Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, requiring flexibility. You will work independently within the household and coordinate with the part-time nanny for afternoon school runs and activities. The atmosphere is warm and family-oriented with a more formal tone during entertaining.

Candidate Requirements

• A warm and child-friendly demeanor with a genuine passion for working in family homes.
• Proven experience managing private households professionally with high attention to detail and cleanliness standards.
• Confidence in cooking and meal preparation.
• Good spoken and written English communication skills.
• Organized, trustworthy, discreet, and proactive in carrying out duties independently.
• Driving license and prior experience in family homes with children are desirable but not mandatory.
