Role overview
As a Childcare Cook with Child Development Schools, you’ll help support children’s health and development by preparing meals and snacks that are nourishing, age-appropriate, and aligned with the center’s nutrition standards. The position is based in a busy kitchen setting and requires attention to food quality, safety, and timeliness.
Key duties
- Plan, prepare, and distribute meals and snacks for children in line with menu schedules and CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) requirements.
- Keep the kitchen safe and orderly by following all sanitation, storage, and food-handling procedures.
- Prepare food that meets documented dietary needs, including allergies, restrictions, and other special requirements.
- Monitor meal counts, manage food and supply levels, and update center leadership when replenishment is needed.
- Care for kitchen equipment by keeping it in good condition and promptly reporting repair or maintenance issues.
- Provide support to classroom teams when kitchen duties are light, including helping with activities and child supervision.
Pay and benefits
The role pays $14.00 per hour, with the final rate depending on experience.
