The company is currently expanding quickly, with membership growing 38% in 2025, and is investing in the technology foundation needed to support that momentum.

The Opportunity

ASMALLWORLD is hiring a commercially aware, hands-on Chief Technology Officer to lead the technology direction and execution across the business. Reporting directly to the CEO, this senior role carries full accountability for product engineering, infrastructure, and the product roadmap.

The business has recently reshaped its technology function and is now focused on a leaner, modern stack. Key priorities include improving CRM activation, enabling personalisation at scale, and strengthening the backend systems that support continued growth across the membership and travel divisions.

This position suits a leader who can think strategically and define a long-term vision, while also staying close to delivery and quickly turning ideas into tested solutions that enhance the member experience and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set the technology direction and roadmap in line with commercial goals.
  • Oversee planning and execution across product, platform, and infrastructure engineering.
  • Own the CRM and marketing technology environment, including internal tools and external platforms.
  • Shape data architecture and strengthen analytics for members and the business.
  • Manage vendors and strategic partners, including third-party integrations such as hotel and airline loyalty programmes, financial institutions, and other external partners.
  • Recruit, lead, and develop a compact but high-performing engineering team.
  • Ensure strong security practices, compliance, and data governance within Swiss and EU regulatory requirements.

Candidate Profile

  • Background as a CTO or senior engineering leader in a consumer-facing digital company, ideally in travel, luxury, or membership/subscription businesses.
  • At least 6 years of experience leading high-performing technology teams.
  • Solid full-stack technical depth, with the ability to read and review code, make architecture choices, and maintain strong engineering standards.
  • Experience managing CRM or marketing technology systems, including both proprietary and third-party solutions, ideally Salesforce.
  • Strong commercial understanding of customer journeys, digitally enabled sales, marketing conversion funnels, and how technical decisions affect business performance.
  • Track record of identifying and delivering AI and automation initiatives that create meaningful business transformation.
  • Comfort working in a lean, high-ownership, fast-moving environment.
  • High integrity, humility, and a collaborative approach.
  • Enjoys influencing peers, learning from others, and contributing as part of a leadership team.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills are an advantage.
