Job description
About the company
ecoPortal is a global SaaS business focused on changing how organisations approach health and safety. Its platform is designed to help companies go beyond basic compliance and build stronger safety cultures where people feel supported, connected, and secure. The company’s aim is to help create healthier workplaces where both employees and businesses can perform well.
The company has grown as a bootstrapped business, with progress funded by customers and reinvested into the organisation. That approach has supported a long-term mindset, purposeful product development, and sustainable growth. With about 150 people across New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and other regions, ecoPortal is now in a strong phase of international expansion.
Role overview
ecoPortal is hiring a Chief Sales Officer to build and scale its global revenue engine as the business enters its next stage of growth. This is a strategic leadership position focused on creating the systems, structure, and commercial approach that will shape how the company sells globally.
The organisation is shifting from a highly customised, high-touch enterprise sales motion to a more scalable go-to-market model built around standardisation and configuration. The successful candidate will help drive that transition across commercial structure, execution, and overall revenue strategy.
What the role involves
This role is responsible for designing and growing the revenue system that supports ecoPortal’s global expansion. It combines strategy, execution, and ongoing improvement of the commercial function.
- Lead enterprise growth across New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom, and future markets, with responsibility for overall sales strategy and revenue performance.
- Strengthen the company’s position in New Zealand, accelerate growth in Australia, and build on traction in the UK and Europe to establish ecoPortal as a trusted enterprise partner.
- Develop a healthy and forecastable pipeline through a combination of inbound and outbound initiatives, while guiding complex enterprise deals from early conversations through to long-term customer success.
- Recruit, coach, and grow high-performing sales leaders and Account Executives while fostering a collaborative, ambitious, and improvement-focused culture.
- Introduce process and system consistency across teams and regions to create a scalable base for global operations.
- Help build specialised commercial capabilities as new products and customer needs emerge.
- Advance a consultative selling approach that focuses on business outcomes and value rather than simply selling software.
- Encourage customers toward scalable, standardised solutions that deliver value faster and support a product-led growth model.
- Establish strong forecasting, pipeline management, pricing, deal quality, and commercial performance disciplines to keep the sales organisation clear, consistent, and accountable.
- Lead change management across go-to-market shifts, ensuring pricing updates and product changes are positioned effectively in the market.
- Work closely with Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and the executive team to align messaging, launch the right offers, and learn from customers to shape future strategy.
What you’ll bring
- Experience scaling commercial teams through substantial growth, ideally within an enterprise B2B SaaS business and across international markets.
- Confidence handling complex enterprise sales cycles, engaging senior stakeholders, and coaching teams through sophisticated deal processes.
- A strong track record of hiring, developing, and leading successful commercial teams in a way that empowers people to do their best work.
- Strong commercial judgement, with the ability to interpret forecasting, pricing, pipeline health, and performance data to support sustainable growth.
- A practical belief in scalable solutions and a preference for repeatable, efficient approaches that still create a strong customer experience.
- Comfort operating in a bootstrapped environment where resources are invested carefully and decisions are made with a long-term lens.
Why this opportunity stands out
ecoPortal is in an important growth phase, with a strong product, trusted enterprise customers, and a solid foundation for international expansion. This role offers the chance to shape company strategy, build a world-class commercial organisation, and contribute to a mission that improves workplace safety around the world.

- Access to mental health support through Southern Cross
- Learning and development budget for courses and growth opportunities
- Five weeks of annual leave, plus birthday leave
- One additional week of paid parental leave after a child’s birth or adoption
