About UMO
UMO is an emerging FinTech startup developing an AI-driven, user-centric money platform that integrates fiat currencies, cryptocurrencies, and investment services, pending regulatory approval. The company aims to simplify financial interactions by eliminating traditional barriers concerning access, asset variety, and user experience. Based in the UAE with additional offices in Portugal and Ukraine, the 100+ employee team represents over 20 nationalities. UMO's technological framework and licensing efforts are actively progressing.
Role Overview
As Chief Product Officer, you will spearhead the creation of a global financial product ecosystem tailored to individual users — from freelancers to business owners and artists — focusing on personalized value rather than segmented demographics or balance sizes. Working closely with the company founders, you will have full autonomy to set strategic product direction, oversee the entire product lifecycle from initial conception to launch, and ensure functionality aligns with regulatory demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and delivery of zero-to-one regulated financial products, emphasizing timely value delivery over early-stage optimization.
- Establish and grow the product team by recruiting, mentoring, and fostering a culture focused on performance, data literacy, and humility.
- Design a banking architecture centered on autonomous agents, integrating AI as a foundational operational model rather than a supplemental feature.
- Manage project scope strictly to maintain quality and meet deadlines, deliberately cutting features if necessary to focus on a minimal licensable product.
- Incorporate regulatory, compliance, and audit requirements as essential product components, transforming potential hurdles into user-friendly features.
- Collaborate with the CTO to align product capabilities with technical constraints and organizational commitments.
- Serve as the principal communicator across teams to propagate clear understanding of product vision, customer insights, and strategic decisions.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience shipping regulated financial products from concept to launch within fintech, cryptocurrency exchanges, custodians, or digital banking, with familiarity in compliance regimes such as VARA, MiCA, EMI, or Payment Institution licensing.
- Comfortable working in agile, continuous-delivery environments, capable of making sound decisions under regulatory, investment, and shifting timeline pressures.
- Deep understanding of agentic frameworks and their architectural implications, balancing autonomy with deterministic safety in financial product paths.
- Expertise across multiple domains including crypto, traditional banking, and neobanking ecosystems.
- Ownership mentality focused on end-to-end results, autonomy in decision making, and fostering a collaborative, cross-functional culture.
- Exceptional communication skills in English, enabling effective collaboration among global teams.
Who This Role Is Not For
- Those seeking to optimize existing mature products, as this role involves building from the ground up with no existing user base.
- Individuals accustomed to slow decision-making in large banking environments requiring multiple approvals.
- Professionals who perceive banking regulations as obstacles rather than integral product elements.
- Those preferring to just execute predetermined roadmaps without influence on scope or strategy.
- Applicants unwilling to take full accountability for product decisions and associated outcomes.
Additional Advantages
- Prior experience as a founder or early-stage product leader in a regulated fintech startup.
- Track record of launching agentic-first financial products.
- Utilizing AI agents or advanced personal knowledge management tools to enhance operational efficiency.
Offer and Working Conditions
- Complete leadership of the product organization and roadmap with direct reporting to the founders.
- Equity participation in a venture progressing from conception to launch.
- Workbase options include Lisbon, Dubai, Kyiv, or Lviv, with flexibility for remote arrangements based on fit.
- Significant influence over overall product and company trajectory beyond mere execution.
