Job description

Opportunity Overview

A mature, privately held industrial services business backed by a growth-focused private equity investor is hiring a Chief Operating Officer to support its next stage of expansion. The company delivers essential integrity and technical services to customers in oil and gas, energy, power, manufacturing, and industrial infrastructure, and operates across multiple states. With plans to grow both organically and through acquisitions, the organization is strengthening its leadership bench to match that ambition.

This is a build-and-scale role for a senior operator who can introduce stronger structure, systems, and discipline while protecting the entrepreneurial, people-centered culture that has helped the business succeed.

Role Summary

Reporting to the CEO and working closely with the executive team and board, the COO will be accountable for operational performance across the platform and for turning growth plans into execution. The position is highly hands-on and best suited to someone who performs well in a lean, fast-moving environment where building is part of the job.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead operations across a distributed, multi-location services business.
  • Create and implement scalable processes, performance metrics, and regular reporting routines to support substantial revenue growth.
  • Guide the integration of acquired businesses, covering both operating practices and cultural fit.
  • Modernize systems and infrastructure, including ERP, CRM, and technology-enabled tools for quality management and reporting.
  • Work alongside commercial leaders to ensure operational capacity supports sales and revenue targets.
  • Report operational results and plans to the board, incorporate input, and carry plans through to execution.
  • Coach, develop, and raise the performance of the operations team, leading with trust and influence rather than disruption.
  • Strengthen the operating foundation needed to support the company’s long-term value creation strategy.

Candidate Profile

The ideal leader has held a senior operational role such as COO, President, Managing Director, or VP/SVP of Operations or Transformation within industrial services, field services, or another multi-site, project-based services environment.

They should have a proven record of helping a business scale through a period of major growth, along with experience leading post-acquisition integration from both an operational and cultural standpoint. The role calls for someone who can build systems, metrics, and reporting from an earlier-stage baseline and who is comfortable doing the work personally in a resourceful, execution-oriented way.

Strong commercial awareness is important, including an understanding of how operational decisions affect revenue. The candidate should be polished enough to work directly with a private equity board while still bringing the substance needed to deliver results. Success in a lean, entrepreneurial environment without a large corporate support structure is essential.

Location and Working Model

The position is flexible across the United States, but it does require travel. Candidates based in CDT or EDT time zones are preferred.

Compensation and Growth Opportunity

The opportunity includes a competitive base salary, a performance bonus, and equity participation aligned to long-term value creation. The company offers the chance to play a central role in shaping the next chapter of the business.

Additional Notes

Experience in a specific industrial sub-sector is helpful but not mandatory. Leaders from the broader industrial services and field services landscape are encouraged to apply if they bring the right operating experience.
