Job description
About SENA Health
SENA Health is creating a new operating layer for healthcare delivery. The company works with medical groups, health systems, payers, and other healthcare organizations to improve patient experience through an AI-first, technology-enabled, and human-centered operating model.
AI has been part of SENA’s operations since 2022 and is now deeply embedded in day-to-day work. The organization’s goal is to make healthcare more responsive, empathetic, intelligent, and continuously available.
With 24/7/365 command-center operations, proprietary technology, AI-powered workflows, and a global operations team, SENA is rethinking how patients access and experience care. The company currently serves healthcare organizations nationwide with operational pods in four countries and is growing quickly.
Role Overview
This is a high-growth, hands-on leadership role rather than a conventional corporate COO position. It is suited to someone who enjoys building operational systems, paying close attention to detail, leading with accountability, and helping reshape healthcare through technology, AI, and disciplined execution.
The COO will lead daily operations for a rapidly expanding healthcare technology organization with more than 120 team members across four countries, including directors, supervisors, onboarding teams, front-line operations staff, and AI agents.
The role reports to the CEO and works closely with the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Growth Officer to keep execution aligned, scalable, and accountable across the business.
Preferred background includes leadership in healthcare, healthtech, SaaS, AI-enabled services, or another fast-growing technology business.
Work Arrangement
This position is remote or hybrid. It requires leadership across multiple time zones, and travel may be needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct daily operations across global teams and functional groups.
- Make sure execution stays aligned with strategic priorities and business goals.
- Design and improve operational systems that can scale without slowing the organization down.
- Strengthen customer onboarding, front-line operations, service delivery, workforce management, and internal workflows.
- Stay closely connected to front-line teams even as the organization grows.
- Build a culture centered on urgency, accountability, ownership, and responsiveness.
- Set clear KPIs, scorecards, reporting routines, and performance standards for leaders and teams.
- Hold teams accountable for outcomes and operational targets.
- Handle difficult conversations with clarity, respect, and directness.
- Coach and grow internal leaders while reinforcing continuous improvement.
- Shape the next operating model using AI agents, automation, workflow orchestration, and new technologies.
- Find opportunities to increase efficiency, scale, and quality through technology.
- Work closely with technology, product, and analytics teams.
- Improve processes by removing duplication, delays, and unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Create systems that improve speed, clarity, accountability, and execution.
- Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and help turn vision into operational action.
- Bring proactive problem-solving, prioritization, discipline, and strong ownership to the executive team.
- Protect focus while maintaining fast execution.
What the Company Is Looking For
- Strong commitment to operational excellence and execution.
- Ability to manage details without losing sight of the broader strategy.
- Comfort with data, metrics, and outcome-based decision-making.
- Experience leading distributed teams across countries or regions.
- Interest in healthcare transformation and health technology.
- Enthusiasm for using AI to improve work and employee experience.
- Clear, direct communication style and a strong sense of accountability.
- Calm, steady leadership in high-pressure, fast-moving environments.
- Strong organization, self-direction, and decision-making ability.
- Low-ego leadership style with a high level of ownership.
- Servant-leadership mindset and ability to build trust through action.
- Ability to build relationships across cultures and time zones.
- Comfort with growth, complexity, and scaling challenges.
Preferred Experience
- Operational leadership in a high-growth healthcare, healthtech, SaaS, or AI-enabled services company.
- Success managing distributed teams across multiple regions or countries.
- Experience guiding an organization through rapid scaling.
- Strong background in operational analytics and KPI management.
- Familiarity with AI, workflow automation, and operational technology tools.
- Experience creating operational infrastructure in fast-moving environments.
- Healthcare operations, patient experience, care delivery, or healthcare technology experience is strongly preferred.
Success Measures
- Teams consistently meet measurable operational KPIs.
- The organization scales more effectively without adding unnecessary hierarchy.
- AI and automation are used more broadly across workflows.
- Leadership accountability is strong across departments.
- Execution and decision-making become faster.
- Employee alignment and engagement improve.
- Client outcomes and patient experience improve.
- Growth remains sustainable and operationally disciplined.
Culture
SENA emphasizes work-life integration rather than a strict work-life tradeoff. The company moves quickly, expects ownership, values direct communication, and favors problem-solving over bureaucracy.
The environment is intended for people who want to build something meaningful and challenging, not for those looking for layers of process or a highly political workplace. The company’s mission is to create infrastructure that can materially improve healthcare experiences at scale.
Compensation and Benefits
SENA offers competitive compensation with performance-based financial upside tied to operational results and company success. Equity ownership is also included, and medical benefits are provided.
Additional Information
This role is designed for a transformational operational leader who can help build a healthcare organization that serves millions of people more effectively through technology, AI, operational rigor, and human empathy.
