Job description

Role summary

Our client is a leading specialist in M&A insurance brokerage, working with private equity firms, corporate buyers, and legal counsel to design tailored insurance solutions that support and protect complex transactions. As the business grows and expands its footprint, it is hiring a highly organized, strategically minded, and execution-driven Chief of Staff to work directly with the President and act as a force multiplier for the executive team.

What the role involves

This position serves as the President’s main strategic partner and close executive support, connecting high-level business direction with disciplined delivery. It is a high-impact role for someone who is comfortable operating behind the scenes, handling ambiguity well, and taking pride in helping senior leadership operate at their best.

The strongest fit will likely come from a top-tier strategy consulting background, followed by in-house experience partnering with C-suite leaders in financial services, ideally in insurance or M&A-related environments, where they have led complex strategic initiatives. The person will be expected to contribute immediately by converting executive priorities into practical cross-functional outcomes.

Key responsibilities

  • Turn the President’s broader vision, business priorities, and strategic direction into clear action plans, measurable KPIs, and disciplined execution.
  • Lead important cross-functional initiatives, transformation efforts, and corporate development projects from planning through completion.
  • Build and manage the operating rhythm of the executive office, including prioritizing agendas, preparing briefing materials, and tracking follow-through on action items.
  • Act as a discreet and trusted advisor to the President while coordinating effectively with other senior leaders.
  • Work through complex internal dynamics to align teams, remove blockers, and keep business initiatives moving.
  • Convert complex information and data into concise, persuasive communications, presentations, and reports for the President and external audiences.
  • Identify operational risks early, anticipate needs, and resolve issues before they become larger problems.
  • Review and refine business management processes to improve efficiency and sharpen executive focus.

Background and experience

The ideal candidate will have started in strategy consulting, building strong structured thinking and project management capabilities, and then moved in-house to work directly with senior executives.

They should have substantial experience in financial services, with a clear preference for candidates who have worked in insurance brokerage, underwriting, or M&A sectors.

Relevant exposure in a COO office, Chief of Staff function, Corporate Development, or Strategy team is strongly preferred, along with a track record of owning and delivering high-stakes strategic work.

Core attributes

  • Comfort working out of the spotlight while enabling others to succeed.
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to weigh trade-offs quickly and pragmatically.
  • High resilience, strong energy, and a proactive approach to ownership in fast-moving environments.
  • Sharp situational awareness and the ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships with tact and confidence.
