Job description
Position Summary
This role is for a seasoned Chief of Staff who will act as the strategic and day-to-day operational partner to a Vice President overseeing a large personalization and discovery function. You will function as an extension of the executive leader, helping shape priorities, improve operating rhythm, support organization-wide planning, and keep complex initiatives moving in a fast-changing, technical environment.
The position is central to business operations, leadership coordination, planning cycles, and stakeholder alignment. Success in this role requires comfort working at the executive level, the ability to influence without formal authority, and the discipline to advance high-complexity programs from early idea stage through delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the VP’s main strategic and operational partner by organizing priorities, communications, and team-wide initiatives.
- Create executive-ready briefings, slide decks, and other materials for senior leadership discussions.
- Own and coordinate Monthly Business Reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, annual planning, resource planning, and organizational goal tracking.
- Align work across business, technical, finance, recruiting, HR, and communications partners.
- Build and maintain governance models, operating cadences, reporting routines, and internal process structures.
- Run leadership meetings, offsites, staff meetings, and strategic planning workshops.
- Monitor decisions, commitments, risks, and action items so follow-through is clear and accountable.
- Take the lead on visible projects and strategic efforts involving multiple stakeholder groups.
- Spot operational friction and design process improvements that strengthen effectiveness.
- Convert technical topics into clear executive-level business messages and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA is preferred.
- At least 7 years of experience in cross-functional programs, strategy, operations, or related business leadership work; candidates with an MBA and 5+ years of relevant experience may also be considered.
- Background supporting a Vice President or other senior executive is necessary.
- Strong analytical capability, including the use of metrics and data to guide decisions and improve operations.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to juggle several priorities in a high-pressure, fast-moving, highly visible setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with product, engineering, AI, machine learning, or broader technology teams.
- Exposure to strategic planning and roadmap creation.
- Experience driving organizational change and transformation efforts.
- Strong executive presence and the ability to influence senior leaders.
- Comfort working through ambiguity while creating alignment across varied teams.
Ideal Candidate Background
Strong applicants often come from Chief of Staff, Business Operations, Strategy & Operations, Program Management, or Business Management roles. They tend to have a track record of supporting senior executives, leading planning cycles, running business reviews, coordinating cross-functional work, and bringing stronger operating discipline to rapidly growing organizations.
