Job description
Mission
In this role, you will act as the CEO’s right hand: safeguarding priorities, owning high-impact strategic work, and ensuring the executive agenda stays focused on what matters most. You will move smoothly between strategic topics and urgent operational issues, while keeping a clear line of sight on company-wide goals. The position calls for someone who brings order, steadiness, and disciplined execution so the CEO’s direction turns into tangible results.
Profile
We are looking for someone with a background in a fast-moving startup or scale-up, consulting, investment banking, or venture capital, ideally with 2 to 4 years of experience. Candidates who have spent at least 2 years building and operating their own company are also a strong match. The right person combines sharp analytical thinking with a practical, hands-on approach. You should be able to communicate clearly and fluently in both English and German, in writing and speech, and adapt complex ideas for different audiences. Success in this role also requires independence, initiative, strong accountability, an entrepreneurial mindset, and comfort in a constantly changing environment.
Why this role matters
Join a climate-tech company that has recently closed a €17.5M Series A and is scaling quickly across Europe. Buildings remain one of the continent’s biggest sources of energy use and emissions, which makes better insulation a major lever for decarbonization. VARM helps customers lower heating costs and reduce CO₂ emissions through improved insulation, with the ambition to become Europe’s insulation leader and insulate 1 million homes over the next decade.
What you can expect
You will be joining a core team in an early-stage company at a high-growth moment, with real influence over how the organization is shaped. The role offers the chance to contribute directly to climate impact while helping build a market-leading business in the energy transition space.
Benefits
Compensation includes a mix of cash and stock options, depending on your preference for upside. The company offers hybrid flexibility with an onsite-first mindset, a strong office environment in Kreuzberg, training, team events, fitness discounts, and ongoing support for personal development through regular founder feedback. You will also have the opportunity to help shape culture, ways of working, and collaboration practices as the team grows.
About the company
VARM is focused on making buildings more energy efficient by rethinking insulation. The company believes that reducing emissions from buildings is essential to reaching climate goals, especially given that most of today’s buildings will still exist in 2050. Its mission is to build a sustainable, industry-leading business while making a measurable positive contribution to the climate.
Additional information
The role is based in Berlin, Germany. The work model is full-time with a hybrid setup that starts from an onsite-first approach and allows for remote flexibility. The company values diversity and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.
