Role overview
Mob Entertainment is a growing multimedia startup recognized for the breakout indie horror title Poppy Playtime. As the franchise continues to expand, the company is scaling its team to support its creative and business ambitions. The studio has also seen extraordinary audience reach, with more than 100 billion YouTube views of Poppy Playtime-related content since the game launched four years ago.
The Chief of Staff works closely with the CEO and studio leadership to convert priorities into action and keep the organization running effectively. This position combines strategic coordination, operational leadership, and practical execution. It involves leading important initiatives, improving processes across teams, and supporting executives through planning, facilitation, and ownership of meetings. The role acts as a bridge across Production, Creative, and Business functions by reducing friction, creating clarity, and keeping teams aligned.
This role is separate from the CEO, who focuses on growth, revenue, partnerships, and corporate development, and separate from the CCO, who leads creative vision, team direction, and quality standards. The Chief of Staff is centered on internal execution and operational efficiency so the leadership team can perform in their core areas. The position is based in Los Angeles, CA and follows an onsite working model.
Leadership and executive support
- Manage the leadership cadence, including weekly leadership meetings, creative reviews, and planning sessions.
- Plan and run leadership offsites and strategic planning sessions that support alignment, decisions, and execution.
- Build agendas, document decisions, monitor action items, and ensure commitments are completed.
- Create briefs, reports, and presentation materials for leadership and board discussions.
- Serve as a daily strategic partner to the CEO on priorities, trade-offs, and overall studio health, including sharing market insight that supports decision-making.
Strategy and execution
- Convert studio objectives into quarterly and annual plans, including OKRs, roadmaps, and milestones.
- Monitor progress across teams and raise risks early.
- Lead critical cross-functional projects and special initiatives spanning Business, Creative, and Production.
- Drive accountability and momentum on key decisions, helping leadership execute more effectively.
Studio operations and production support
- Refine workflows and internal processes across Design, Engineering, Art, and Production.
- Work with producers to identify bottlenecks and improve collaboration.
- Support resource planning and visibility into capacity.
- Put scalable systems in place for communication, documentation, and reporting.
Cross-functional alignment
- Act as a central coordination point between Creative, Production, and Business teams.
- Align teams on priorities, dependencies, and timelines.
- Help address conflict and remove blockers.
- Improve transparency and information sharing across the studio.
Culture and communication
- Support internal communication and company-wide updates.
- Help foster a team culture that is healthy, accountable, and low-ego.
- Balance operational discipline with protection for creative independence.
Experience and qualifications
- 4 to 7+ years of experience in operations, production, program management, consulting, or startup leadership roles.
- Background supporting executive planning processes such as leadership offsites, annual planning, OKRs, and cross-functional strategy sessions.
- Prior experience in a game studio or creative production environment is preferred.
- Experience directly supporting executives or leadership teams.
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.

Compensation and benefits
The base pay for this role in the Los Angeles, CA Metropolitan Area is $130,000 to $160,000 USD per year. Final pay within that range depends on experience, qualifications, and work location.
