Key Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee daily security operations, ensuring all activities meet established safety and security standards for staff and residents.
• Enforce adherence to all relevant laws, policies, procedures, and regulations governing security functions.
• Supervise security staff including recruitment, performance evaluation, training, promotion, and disciplinary processes.
• Develop, update, and implement security policies, seeking management approval where necessary.
• Coordinate responses to emergencies, including searches for escapees and managing riot control plans.
• Provide training for staff on emergency protocols, weapon handling, and control procedures.
• Participate in committees related to training, budgeting, and policy review to support organizational goals.
• Collaborate in long-range planning and community coordination activities to advance facility objectives.
• Maintain communication with shift teams to address operational challenges.
• Be available on a 24/7 basis to handle critical incidents and unusual occurrences.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent mandatory; bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences or related field plus business administration coursework preferred.
• A minimum of five years progressive experience in correctional environments, including at least two years in supervisory roles overseeing adult inmate custody, classification, and treatment.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to assign, guide, and manage staff effectively.
• Capability to interact consistently and fairly with both staff and inmates, enforcing policies and procedures.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to deliver clear instructions and prepare accurate reports.
• Comprehensive knowledge of correctional programs, applicable laws, court mandates, and management protocols stemming from relevant experience and education.
• Mature, adaptable, intellectually sharp, and respected by peers and inmates alike.
