Role Summary
The Chief Financial Officer will work part-time in a remote setup and will be accountable for ArMA’s financial planning, day-to-day financial operations, and reporting. This position guides budgeting and forecasting, tracks cash flow, and delivers clear and accurate financial statements and reports to leadership and the board. It also involves strengthening internal controls, keeping the organization aligned with applicable regulations and nonprofit expectations, and turning financial data into insights that support strategic and operational choices. The CFO partners with senior leaders on long-range planning, risk oversight, and allocation of resources to help sustain ArMA’s mission-driven programs. Regular duties also include overseeing finance workflows, coordinating with outside auditors or advisors when needed, and suggesting improvements that enhance efficiency and transparency.
Key Qualifications
- Deep understanding of finance and financial planning, with hands-on experience in budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial strategy.
- Strong command of financial statements and reporting, with the ability to prepare precise and timely reports for executives and governing groups.
- Ability to analyze financial information, recognize patterns, and use data to support informed decisions.
- Background in nonprofit or association finance, including internal controls, compliance, and audit coordination.
- Advanced use of accounting and finance systems, along with familiarity with GAAP and applicable financial rules.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-financial audiences.
- Capacity to work independently in a remote setting, handle several priorities at once, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related discipline; CPA, CMA, or a similar professional credential is preferred.
