Job description
Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) position is a part-time role primarily onsite in Abu Dhabi, with some flexibility to work remotely. The CFO will direct the organization’s financial strategy, encompassing budgeting, cash flow oversight, and long-term financial planning that supports the center’s goals.
Key Duties
- Prepare and review comprehensive financial statements ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Maintain strong internal controls and manage adherence to all relevant regulations and funding stipulations.
- Collaborate with leadership on efficient resource allocation and oversight of grant and project budgets.
- Assess financial risks and provide decisive financial analyses to inform strategic decisions.
- Manage relationships with auditors, financial institutions, and important stakeholders.
- Supervise finance personnel or consultants, offering guidance and mentorship as necessary.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven senior-level experience in financial leadership roles with a solid foundation in finance.
- Expertise in financial planning and budgeting supporting sustainability and organizational objectives.
- Competence in preparing and interpreting financial statements aligned with required standards.
- Skillful in financial reporting for management, donors, grants, and regulatory purposes.
- Strong analytical capabilities to interpret intricate financial data and recommend actions.
- Academic credentials including a bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related disciplines; certifications like CPA or CFA preferred.
- Experience with research organizations, non-profits, or policy groups particularly involving grant/project-based funding is highly advantageous.
- High ethical standards, meticulous attention to detail, and clear communication skills tuned for non-financial audiences.
- Comfortable operating within a hybrid work structure and engaging with diverse, international teams.
