Job description
Role Overview
The Chief Financial Officer will sit on the executive leadership team and report to the ABA Centers CEO, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the ICBD CFO. This role is central to shaping long-term strategy, strengthening financial discipline, and improving the organization’s financial processes and controls.
The CFO will own the day-to-day leadership of all finance-related functions, including financial operations, accounting, budgeting, capital planning, funding strategy, acquisition evaluation, growth modeling, investor relations, and financial reporting.
Strategic Leadership
- Contribute as a senior executive in defining the company’s future direction and backing key tactical initiatives.
- Track execution of strategic plans and prepare financial updates and presentations for executive leadership.
Operational Excellence
- Oversee the organization’s administrative and financial operations, including building the financial and operating strategy, setting measurable metrics, and ensuring strong financial discipline across the business.
- Evaluate the financial consequences of important strategic and operational decisions and put effective operating practices in place.
Financial Systems and Controls
- Drive the continued design and oversight of control systems that safeguard company assets and support accurate financial reporting.
- Provide leadership for the newly implemented global ERP platform and work with BI teams to develop useful reporting for Finance, Accounting, and other departments.
Financial Leadership
- Deliver clear, timely information to stakeholders through strong internal reporting, KPI tracking, budgeting, and forecasting, while improving analytics for better decision-making.
- Lead accounting, tax, FP&A, and treasury functions, while supporting the risk management team.
- Work with BI to turn ERP data into actionable reporting for finance and other business units.
Capital Raising and Acquisitions
- Take the lead on capital raising efforts by building strategy, identifying funding partners, and driving the process through closing.
- Guide acquisition analysis and growth modeling to support disciplined, value-creating expansion.
Team Building and Leadership
- Develop and retain a high-performing Finance and Accounting team that can support rapid organizational growth.
- Explain complex financial matters to non-finance colleagues in a respectful and practical way that improves efficiency, consistency, and execution.
Relationship Management
- Maintain banking relationships and stay on top of cash balances and cash forecasts.
- Manage outside audit and tax relationships, deliver accurate financial analytics and reporting, and support both existing and new business development efforts.
Location and Role Expectations
This is a full-time position based at ABA’s corporate office in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The role requires travel as needed, and in some cases travel may be extended.
Education and Experience
An undergraduate degree in accounting is required. An MBA and/or CPA is strongly preferred. Candidates should bring at least 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience in a high-growth startup environment, including senior responsibility for broad financial operations and direct partnership with executive business leaders.
The ideal candidate will also have a track record of improving efficiency in complex multi-unit, multi-location environments, along with strong financial analysis, planning, reporting analysis, and cash flow management capabilities. Deep ERP implementation and change management experience is important, as is the ability to help scale a mission-driven culture across ABA Centers and ICBD portfolio companies.
This role calls for a seasoned, hands-on leader with strong commercial judgment, comfort in entrepreneurial settings, a player-coach approach, and the executive presence and emotional intelligence needed to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
