Job description

About the role

Triskele Labs is a sovereign Australian cybersecurity services business entering its next phase of expansion. The company is hiring its first full-time Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary to replace a part-time CFO arrangement and to rebuild finance, governance and related legal support for the future.

This is a senior hands-on role for someone who can build as well as lead. You will take full ownership of finance and company secretarial duties, coordinate the legal function with external counsel, and create the structure, processes and reporting needed to support a scaling business.

The role is designed for an AI and LLM-native leader who uses automation as the default approach. Triskele Labs is shifting toward agentic workflows, and finance is expected to follow that direction. You will help shape automated briefs from live Xero data, cash and receivables monitoring, and daily forecast-versus-actual reporting into Slack. Rather than inheriting an established stack, you will be responsible for designing and implementing it, with a focus on eliminating repetitive work.

You will report directly to the CEO, be part of the Executive Leadership Team, and work closely with the leadership group on commercial, operational and governance decisions over the next three to five years.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the full finance agenda, including strategy, budgeting, reporting, treasury, tax, audit and compliance.
  • Handle company secretarial obligations such as board governance, statutory filings, minutes, registers and ASIC requirements.
  • Oversee legal matters in partnership with external counsel across contracts, commercial terms, employment and intellectual property.
  • Build the financial model from the ground up, shift reporting from billing-based measures to net revenue, and manage gross margin forecasting, OPEX control and EBITDA protection.
  • Create and implement reporting packs for the board, executive team, lenders and Quarterly Business Reviews; these reporting tools do not yet exist in their final form.
  • Embed AI into finance modelling, forecasting, reporting and workflow design as a core operating method.
  • Design the finance team structure, hire the permanent Financial Controller, and lead both onshore and offshore operational finance resources.
  • Work with the CEO and executive team on pricing, deal structure, capital allocation and hiring decisions.

Candidate profile

  • Qualified CA, CPA or equivalent.
  • Company Secretary qualification, or AICD / Governance Institute credentials with the intention to take on the company secretary role.
  • Substantial senior finance leadership experience in a scaling organisation, ideally within professional services, technology or cybersecurity.
  • Experience building or reshaping a finance function, not only managing an existing one.
  • Strong commercial judgement and a track record of partnering closely with founders, CEOs and executive teams.
  • Comfort across strategy, FP&A, controllership, treasury, tax, audit and lender management.
  • Able to provide oversight of legal matters alongside external counsel.
  • Strong AI and LLM fluency, with practical examples of automation already implemented.
  • Clear, direct communicator who can respectfully challenge senior leadership when needed.
  • Motivated by transformation and able to thrive in a fast-growing, founder-led cybersecurity business.

Benefits and offer

  • Immediate access to the executive table.
  • A true transformation mandate rather than a maintenance role.
  • Close partnership with the CEO and executive leadership team.
  • The chance to build the finance, governance and legal foundations of a growing Australian cybersecurity company in your own style.
  • A competitive salary package aligned to experience.

Application requirements

Applicants must submit both a CV and a cover letter. The cover letter needs to answer two questions: why this role, and why now. Applications submitted without a cover letter will not be reviewed.

Interview process

  • Initial discussion with the CEO.
  • Meetings with members of the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Presentation and mock case study based on a brief shared in advance, including a 90-day plan.
