Marram Community Trust has a distinguished history of over 80 years dedicated to caring for New Zealanders. Founded in 1944 on the principle of manaakitanga — that is, kindness and support for others— the Trust began by providing holiday homes for recovering soldiers and their families. Today, it has evolved into a vibrant community organization supporting beneficiaries through healthcare financial assistance and access to affordable holiday homes throughout Aotearoa. The Trust operates without shareholders, owners, or profit motives, focusing solely on its charitable purpose and guided by a committed, long-serving, value-driven team.

Role Overview

The Chief Executive Officer will report to the Board of Trustees and collaborate closely with them to define vision and strategic plans for sustained growth. This role involves protecting the financial and charitable integrity of the Trust while ensuring beneficiaries remain central to all decisions. Leading around 16 staff members alongside a nationwide network of volunteers and house managers responsible for holiday home upkeep, the CEO will blend strategic foresight, commercial leadership, and genuine care for community welfare. This leadership will continue the Trust’s founding mission into the future.

Key Responsibilities and Expectations

• Provide mature, senior leadership experience at the CEO, General Manager, or equivalent level with a focus on long-term vision rather than reactive management.
• Drive transformational change with energy and courage to safeguard the cultural heritage and modernize the Trust.
• Operate under governance frameworks effectively, demonstrating a strong working knowledge of Board of Trustees dynamics.
• Manage finances strategically including budgeting, investment, and applying macro-economic awareness.
• Lead and nurture a dedicated, values-led team that has long-term commitment to the Trust.
• Confidently guide IT and digital strategy decisions within a technology-enabled environment.
• Have a solid understanding of New Zealand’s charitable and trust legislation, employment regulations, and Health & Safety obligations.
• Exemplify high integrity, sound judgement, and commitment to positively impacting community wellbeing.

Preferred Qualifications and Traits

• Experience in non-profit or commercial sectors preferred.
• Familiarity with health or medical insurance issues, property management or asset oversight would be beneficial.
• Cultural competency in te ao Māori is an advantage.
