Role Overview

A private equity-backed field services platform is hiring a Chief Commercial Officer to spearhead the commercial evolution of a multi-brand services business generating more than $1B in revenue. The organization operates across several geographies and business lines, serving commercial and institutional clients with essential services.

This position sits at the group level and will shape growth strategy, sales execution, pricing, and marketing across the operating portfolio. You will work alongside regional presidents and branch leaders to strengthen commercial performance while protecting the entrepreneurial mindset that supports local success.

The company operates with a deliberately decentralized structure. Local leaders remain accountable for P&Ls and customer relationships, while this role is responsible for building the commercial backbone: shared standards, repeatable processes, CRM usage, pricing architecture, sales incentive plans, and performance routines that support profitable expansion.

The ideal candidate is someone who has built and scaled commercial teams rather than simply managing existing ones. You should be equally comfortable on a branch floor speaking with technicians as you are presenting a multi-year growth plan to the board. Strong revenue accountability, P&L ownership, and credibility in the field are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall commercial agenda for a multi-brand services platform.
  • Define and drive growth strategy across the portfolio of operating companies.
  • Improve sales effectiveness, pricing discipline, marketing impact, and pipeline management.
  • Build scalable commercial systems, processes, and performance cadences across regions and business units.
  • Partner with regional presidents and branch leaders to support profitable local execution.
  • Establish CRM adoption, sales compensation structures, and standard commercial reporting.
  • Help create value through both organic growth and acquisition-led expansion.
  • Maintain a decentralized operating model while introducing consistent commercial standards.
  • Engage directly with field teams and operational leaders to strengthen commercial execution.
  • Present growth plans and commercial performance updates to senior leadership and the board.

Candidate Profile

  • Senior commercial leadership experience such as CCO, EVP Sales, SVP Sales, or an equivalent role in a multi-site services business.
  • Direct responsibility for at least $300M in annual revenue within HVAC, mechanical, facilities, building, or industrial services.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, standardize, or transform commercial organizations across multiple regions, brands, or business units.
  • Strong command of field-service economics, including maintenance agreements, project sales, utilization, and labor-sensitive margins.
  • Hands-on experience implementing pricing frameworks, sales compensation plans, CRM adoption, and pipeline discipline.
  • Ability to influence effectively in an operator-led, decentralized environment.
  • Private equity exposure is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across operating companies.
