Position Details

  • Role: Chief Accountant / Chief Accounting Officer (CAO)
  • Work Schedule: Five working days weekly

Qualifications Required

  • Degree in Accountancy or Finance; must hold a professional accounting qualification such as CA (Singapore), CPA, or ACCA.
  • A minimum of 5 to 10 years of progressive experience in accounting, ideally starting with Big 4 audit training followed by roles in group finance and consolidation within organizations having multiple entities and currencies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in closing and consolidating financial statements of over 10 legal entities, preferably spanning the Asia-Pacific region and at least one Western legal framework (European or US jurisdiction).
  • Proficient understanding of SFRS(I) / IFRS standards including revenue recognition, foreign exchange translation, and intercompany eliminations.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite ERP or equivalent systems highly favored; advanced proficiency in Excel essential.
  • Exposure or experience in shared service center models or transitioning processes towards SSCs is advantageous.
  • Background in consumer electronics, hybrid hardware and subscription revenue models, or knowledge of transfer pricing issues considered a plus.

Core Responsibilities

Group Closing

  • Manage the entire monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process for all sixteen entities ensuring deadlines are met and delays are promptly addressed.
  • Compile and critically review the consolidated group financial statements including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements, incorporating intercompany eliminations, foreign exchange adjustments, and minority interests.
  • Maintain and continually enhance the consolidation features within NetSuite along with harmonizing chart of accounts across different entities and currencies.
  • Review reconciliations between statutory and management reports and uphold uniform accounting policies group-wide across regions.

Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting

  • Prepare group management accounts and board reporting packages, conducting detailed variance analysis relative to budgets and forecasts.
  • Research and implement complex accounting positions related to revenue recognition for combined hardware and cloud subscription offerings, intercompany royalty and transfer pricing entries, lease accounting, and impairment assessments based on SFRS(I)/IFRS guidelines.
  • Collaborate effectively with external auditors across various jurisdictions and support transfer pricing and tax advisory engagements on intercompany transactions.

Controls, Systems, and Process Improvement

  • Design and enforce rigorous month-end close checklists, balance sheet reconciliation standards, and journal approval processes throughout the group.
  • Lead the harmonization and standardization of accounting procedures in anticipation of moving transactional accounting functions to a shared services center.
  • Identify opportunities for automation within NetSuite to accelerate the close process and minimize manual reconciliation efforts.

Team and Stakeholder Leadership

  • Manage and mentor the Singapore consolidation and general ledger team; provide technical expertise to entity-level finance personnel and the developing SSC record-to-report function.
  • Serve as the primary interface among headquarters finance, regional controllers, and external auditors concerning all closing and consolidation activities.
  • Contribute to group finance projects including onboarding of new entities, accounting integration during mergers and acquisitions, and implementation of new systems.
