About the Role

Openhouse is seeking passionate Teacher Partners to conduct engaging, high-quality Chess lessons for children aged 5-12. The role involves delivering structured classes, tracking student progress, managing parent interactions, and contributing to a positive educational environment focused on strategy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver Chess lessons utilizing the Openhouse curriculum, covering fundamental topics such as piece movements, tactics, strategic planning, and game analysis.
  • Monitor and document children's learning developments, maintaining records and providing insightful feedback to parents and management through regular progress updates.
  • Engage with parents via feedback meetings, workshops, and events; collaborate with management to assist with student trials and admissions processes as needed.
  • Organize and prepare students for friendly matches, competitions, and other chess-related events; actively participate in team meetings and training sessions.

Eligibility and Requirements

  • Strong enthusiasm for teaching chess to children between 5 and 12 years of age.
  • Minimum chess proficiency demonstrated by a Lichess rating of 1500 or Chess.com rating of 1100.
  • Prior experience in chess instruction or participation in official chess competitions is advantageous.
  • Possession of certification from the All India Chess Federation (AICF) or an official rating from the International Chess Federation (FIDE) is preferred.

Working Hours & Location

  • Work schedule includes five days a week, with approximately 20 hours weekly, comprising four-hour sessions each day.
  • Weekday timings: 3:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
  • Weekend sessions scheduled based on demand.
  • Classes are held onsite at various learning centers and residential apartment complexes throughout Bengaluru; assignments will be based on proximity to the instructor.

Compensation

Monthly salary ranges from INR 20,000 to INR 25,000, contingent upon performance during interview assessments.
