Role Overview

This fully remote role operates on a 24/7/365 schedule providing mental health crisis and suicide prevention support through chat/text services via the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988). The specialist conducts brief clinical screenings, risk assessments, and connects individuals experiencing emotional distress to suitable services. Occasionally, telephonic intervention supplements online interactions to ensure person’s safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical screenings and risk assessments through telephone or chat platforms.
  • Respond to crisis contacts to evaluate suicide risk, safety concerns, and facilitate referrals to community resources.
  • Perform follow-up calls for individuals at moderate to high suicide risk levels.
  • Adhere to ethical and clinical standards compliant with accreditation requirements.
  • Engage actively in supervision, training, and team meetings.
  • Assist with administrative duties as needed.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient communication via written, verbal, in-person, and virtual methods.
  • Exemplary customer service and professional conduct.
  • Competency in linking clients to services, programs, and community resources.
  • Understanding of suicide risk assessment procedures.
  • Capability to deliver effective crisis intervention.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field; OR Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
  • Preferred experience of 6 to 12 months in crisis-related roles.

Work Schedule and Physical Requirements

  • Shift: Wednesday to Sunday, 6pm to 2:30am; Mondays and Tuesdays off.
  • Physical activity breakdown: 90% sitting, 10% standing, occasional squatting, kneeling, bending, driving, and lifting.
