About the role
As Commercial Strategy Manager for Developing Channels, you will shape and execute the commercial plan for the Express and Online channels, including Whoosh. The role focuses on accelerating growth and identifying new opportunities across these channels.
You will be positioned within the Commercial function and will use data, market insight, and close collaboration with teams across the business to influence strategy and improve performance. A major part of the role is making sure customer propositions, trading plans, and operational initiatives are coordinated and support the wider commercial agenda.
In addition, you will serve as the main contact for all channel-related matters, partnering with senior stakeholders to maintain strong governance, clear ownership, and delivery of agreed actions.
This is a 12-month maternity cover position.
Responsibilities
- Apply the company’s Business Code of Conduct and consistently act with integrity and careful judgment.
- Build and implement commercial strategy for Express and Online, including Whoosh.
- Track, interpret, and present trading results for the channels, covering metrics such as sales, margin, SVP, and waste, both internally and externally.
- Lead regular governance discussions with key stakeholders to keep plans accountable and on track.
- Work across functions to ensure customer insight, assortment, pricing, trading plans, and operational projects deliver strong business outcomes.
- Act as the primary contact for all activities relating to the channels.
Requirements
- Strong commercial capability, including range management, supplier management, strategic planning, financial understanding, and margin management.
- Solid knowledge of the ROI retail market.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Background in buying, with a proven history of achieving budgeted sales and margin targets.
- Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Experience in leading teams and supporting their development.
