Position Overview

The Channel Business Analyst role is designed to collaborate with peers, Field Sales Leaders, and associates to support critical retail partners. This position actively contributes to driving wholesale channel and corporate strategies by providing analytical, problem-solving, and creative solutions. The successful candidate will possess strong retail insight and the ability to effectively communicate across business and cross-functional teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Sales Representatives and Customers to create and agree on pre-season account-level assortment plans aligned with top-down targets from Channel Leaders.
  • Engage in routine pre-season, post-season, and in-season reviews with Demand Planning teams.
  • Take charge of reporting revenue against customer targets along with key customer point-of-sale performance indicators including sales, inventory, margin, and turnover.
  • Contribute to wholesale inventory management by monitoring fill rates, in-stock levels, Available to Promise (ATP), and contract consumption and availability.
  • Conduct account analyses that include product, geographic, and consumer data to identify actionable opportunities to enhance sales growth while managing risks.
  • Build and foster cross-functional partnerships to share best practices across teams such as Field Sales, Retail Brand Marketing, Strategy and Insights, Merchandising, Customer Care, Demand Planning, and IT.
  • Investigate, benchmark, design, and execute new or improved processes and projects to meet key business goals.
  • Support the business by preparing business cases and change requests aligned with corporate strategies outlining clear return on investment and continuous improvement of systems and processes.
  • Perform detailed analysis on key customers down to the store and region levels, evaluating performance across different product sets like SIS, Evolution, and Fusion.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in a related discipline is mandatory.
  • A minimum of four years’ experience as a Business Analyst is required, with a preference for candidates with backgrounds in apparel, ecommerce, retail, or consumer products manufacturing.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel (including usage of VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables).
  • At least two years’ experience with SAP Business Objects or comparable data extraction platforms.
  • Experience using analytical tools such as Lumira, Tableau, or Microsoft Power BI.
  • Deep understanding of business practices and metrics related to retail sales, finance, and inventory management.

Additional Skills and Characteristics

  • Excellent organizational abilities with strong attention to detail and skill in prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in professional communication, capable of presenting complex data understandably.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills coupled with interpersonal savvy, time management, analytical thinking, and creativity.
  • Proven ability to generate clear, comprehensive formal reporting based on specific queries.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • This is primarily an office-based role, classified as remote with no regular on-site obligations, except for occasional travel to special events.
  • Some weekend work may be necessary.
  • Carhartt maintains a tobacco-free workplace.
