Job description
About La Clinica de Familia
La Clinica de Familia (LCDF) is a federally qualified health center with multiple sites across Southern New Mexico. Position Overview

The position serves as a recovery partner and advocate, offering guidance, encouragement, and practical support as members work toward recovery.
Core Approach
- Promote hope by helping people imagine and pursue a meaningful life.
- Recognize strengths and support individuals in choosing their own recovery path.
- Keep services person-centered, with the individual setting the direction and goals.
- Provide support only by choice, with the peer worker acting as a partner or consultant rather than directing care.
- Build relationships that are respectful, trusting, empathetic, collaborative, and mutual.
- Use a trauma-informed, strengths-based style that emphasizes safety, empowerment, and control.
Additional Competencies
- Comfort using electronic health records systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team and communicate well with others.
- Culturally sensitive and non-stigmatizing approach.
- Capability to juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, and remain effective under pressure.
- Consistent respect for confidentiality and discretion.
- Familiarity with organizational policies, procedures, and personnel practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Must be eligible for, or already hold, New Mexico certified peer specialist status.
- To qualify for certification, candidates must be at least 18 years old, have at least 3 years of documented mental wellness and/or substance use recovery, and be a current or former recipient of mental health and/or substance use support services.
- A clean driving record must be maintained.
- Employment is subject to LCDF background screening, TB testing, and drug screening.

Benefits include PPO health insurance, dental coverage, vision coverage, 401(k) with employer match, life and AD&D insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, supplemental life insurance, paid time off, 9 paid holidays, education reimbursement, cafeteria plan access, an employee assistance program, and travel reimbursement.
