Job description

About the Role

BrightPath Educational Supports, operated through Marlborough Day Nursery ECS Limited (MDN), is looking for a certified teacher to join its team in Calgary. The role supports kindergarten and/or PUF programming and is part of a wider network that also serves locations in Edmonton and Red Deer. The organization is part of the Busy Bees Global community and offers pay that reflects experience.

What You Will Do

You will spend about half of your time teaching and the other half preparing Individual Program Plans (IPPs). In this position, you will work with children and families in the kindergarten and/or Program Unit Funded (PUF) setting while promoting an inclusive and diverse classroom environment. You will report to the Kindergarten Manager, who in turn reports to the Educational Supports Manager.

  • Work closely with a multidisciplinary team and contribute as part of a Professional Learning Community.
  • Create Individual Program Plans for children in the PUF program and put strategies in place to help educational assistants and classroom educators support the children on your caseload.
  • Follow the Alberta Education Curriculum and the Kindergarten scope and sequence, and submit weekly lesson plans to the Kindergarten Manager when assigned to kindergarten teaching.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, therapy professionals, and centre staff through clear and effective communication.
  • Partner with families, therapy staff, and other stakeholders to support each child’s needs.
  • Prepare report cards, IPPs, Professional Growth Plans, and other assigned paperwork on time.

Additional Information

Full-time employees are eligible for health benefits that include dental and vision coverage. The role also comes with a 40% childcare discount, and you may opt into an RRSP program with company matching. Sick time is available, and paid winter and spring breaks are included.

Requirements

To be considered, you must hold Alberta Education interim or permanent certification and have a Bachelor of Education degree. Applicants must be legally allowed to work in Canada with a valid work permit, as sponsorship is not available.

  • Alberta Education interim or permanent teaching certification
  • Bachelor of Education degree
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution abilities
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a dependable vehicle
  • Police clearance and vulnerable sector check completed within the last 6 months before the start date
  • Current Standard First Aid and Child CPR certification
